World’s First ‘Sky’ Pool to Open In The UK In May
Fancy a dip with a difference? How about plunging into the world’s first ‘sky pool’, suspended over 100 feet off the ground?
Set to open on 19th May, the transparent Sky pool is 25 meters long and connects two luxury Embassy Gardens apartment blocks in south-west London, offering spectacular views of London’s skyline.
Before you start packing your trunks, we should point out that unfortunately only residents of the building and their guests will be able to take a dip, and unless you have deep pockets, like a spare £1 million, to buy a two-bed apartment that is!
For those lucky residents, the experience is said to feel like ‘flying’.
Structural Engineer Brian Eckersley said, “Once you swim off, you can look right down. It will be like flying.”
The buildings’ Sky Deck is also set to include a spa, summer bar and Orangery, with views of the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and the U.S. Embassy.
Delayed by the pandemic, the ‘sky’ pool is the show-stopping highlight of the Embassy Gardens development by EcoWorld Ballymore, which includes 2,000 homes and luxury apartments, a retail space, office space, as well as bars, restaurants and landscaped gardens, built around the new US Embassy.
Developed in Colorado, the pool was put through “extensive strength testing” before being transported to the U.K, according to Ballymore.
