Throughout history, sailors and seafarers have mistaken Beluga whales for mermaids because of their human-like knees.
You may have seen this picture doing the rounds on social media before and it certainly would appear that the whale has leg-like limbs, but the truth is Beluga’s do not have a set of gams – turns out it is just blubber… and a perfectly timed photo.
Also, without being utter killjoys, why on Earth would mermaids – which famously have no legs – have knees?

This one is for all of the Disney fans out there. We all know that Disney is known for connecting one film’s universe to another, but did you know what Hercules and Ariel are cousins? Ariel is Triton’s daughter and Triton is the son of Poseidon, this makes Ariel the granddaughter of Poseidon. And who else is on that family tree? You guessed it, Hercules’s father Zeus, who is the brother of Poseidon. This makes Hercules and Ariel’s pop first cousins, and Ariel and Hercules first cousins once removed.
