The Body Coach is back; Joe Wicks to resume his public service as of Monday
As the nation once again battens down the hatches for another lockdown, parents up and down the country will be either rejoicing or despairing at the return of The Body Coach – Joe Wicks!
Yes, that’s right! From Monday 11th January, the nation’s PE teacher will be back on our screens kicking us all off the sofa and into squats before you can say breakfast.
Unlike lockdown part 1 where Joe kept us all moving 5 days per week, this time around, Joe will only be committing to x3 20 minute sessions per week – which will all start at 9 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Contrary to the rumour mill, Wick’s motivation to provide a much-needed public service (in our opinion) is not remotely financial. PE With Joe will be free to watch via his YouTube Channel and the fitness guru has said any profits from advertising will be donated to the NHS – as he did the last time around.
In a video posted to his Twitter account earlier today Joe said:
I am hoping three days is going to help young children and families get through this difficult time when schools are closed, to bring some energy, to change their mood, lift their spirits and their mental health.
People across the country were quick to hail Wick’s efforts and, in true British style, make light of the dire situation we once again find ourselves in.
If you make up the part of the population that facepalmed at the news of The Body Coach’s return, fear not, we have some other tips to keep you and your kids from climbing the walls in this never-ending nightmare of a situation.
Museums
If you and/or your little people love a good museum then check out the British Museum and the Guggenheim – they’re both doing awesome virtual tours, which are bound to buy you enough time for a brew at least…
Tune into Documentaries
Kids TV is painful, to say the least, so maybe switch it up. Look for documentaries that you can watch for free on services such as iPlayer like Blue Planet or Stargazing – they make for great, educational and inclusive watching.
Get creative with a pro
Writer and Illustrator Rob Biddulph is back too! He’s hosting regular #DrawWithRob sessions online to get those creative juices flowing. He also has lots of videos to watch back on his website – if you’ve not already checked out his resources! Pencils at the ready.
Twinkl
Twinkl is a fantastic online learning hub that’s created a huge library of lesson ideas, activities and live videos for Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, which is particularly helpful if you have kids across different learning abilities, aged from three to 16. Check it out.
So there you have it, we hope they help. If you know of any hidden gems that will help people out during this turbulent time, drop us a DM and let us know. In the meantime, stay positive. Stay healthy.
