HYPD to Host 24 Hour Gaming Marathon For Acorns Children’s Hospice

Gaming brand, HYPD, has partnered with Acorns Children’s Hospice to host a 24-Hour live stream gaming event on the 21st August 2021 to help raise vital funds for the charity and the families who rely on its care.

The marathon event will start at 10am on Saturday morning and will be streamed on Twitch and Facebook, providing viewers with a highly entertaining watch whilst raising awareness and money for a great cause.

The event follows the roll out of Acorns Children’s Hospice’s new gaming initiative, ‘Raise Your Game For Acorns’, which provides powerful tools to help gamers fundraise for the charity through their live streams and social media.

Since the pandemic hit, Acorns Children’s Hospice’s has had to adapt its fundraising efforts and find new ways to engage people with the charity.

Livestreams on Twitch and YouTube have become the most common way for charities to harness the fundraising power of gaming, with Twitch estimating that more than £79 million has been raised through the platform since it was launched in 2011.

Speaking about this Saturday’s event, Zoe Baggott, Acorns Fundraising Manager, said: “We’re so grateful to HYPD for putting on this brilliant event – it’s such a great idea, sure to be lots of fun and every penny will go towards our vital care. I hope lots of people get involved and tune-in to help smash that £1,000 target.”

Matt Flint, CEO at HYPD continued, “Gamers spend, on average of 7 hours per week gaming, which offers a valuable window of opportunity for charities like Acorns to connect with a highly engaged audience.”

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the 24-hour live stream event on Saturday for Acorns Children’s Hospice and we hope to smash our target of raising £1000 by Monday morning.”

Donations can be made via Just Giving or via the Facebook live stream during the event and all money raised will go directly to Acorns Children’s Hospice.

In the past year, Acorns has cared for over 800 children and supported more than 1,000 families across the West Midlands, including those who are bereaved.

The charity’s care includes emergency and end of life care, short breaks and emotional and practical support – all of which are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and family.
