PlayStation 5 UK Launch London Underground Marketing Campaign

PlayStation takes over London’s Underground signs with iconic shapes for UK PS5 launch

Play certainly has no limits with Playstation. The iconic Oxford Circus Tube station roundels have been transformed into PlayStation’s controller button symbols to mark the launch of the PS5 console – and it’s the new talked-about marketing stunt of 2020.

Sony, PlayStation, have teamed up with Transport for London (TFL) to take over Oxford Circus station. The roundels that mark the four entrances to the station at the junction of Oxford Street and Regent Street have been transformed into the 4 iconic shapes you would find on a PlayStation controller.

The marvellous marketing stunt is only temporary of course and will be lasting for 48 hours as the PlayStation 5 launches in the UK. However, we’d be happy to see it up for longer!

Not only have the roundels been changed at Oxford Circus, but the interiors of Oxford Circus, Bakerloo, Victoria and Central Line platforms have also been given a Sony PlayStation rebrand!

The geometric campaign doesn’t stop there…

Four other Underground tube stations across London have been taken over by PS5 games and will feature a fun new look.

West Ham will be rebranded as Horizon Forbidden West Ham. Mile End station is going to become Miles End, in a nod to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Gran Turismo 7 Sisters will take over Seven Sisters and finally, Lancaster Gate is being rebranded Ratchet and Clankaster.

The new Tube names are temporary. But the rebranding at these additional stations will last all the way until December 16th.

Remember that we’re still in a national lockdown. You should only be braving lockdown London for work, education as well as other essentials. Not checking out PlayStations new signs. Stay safe!
