Love Island Australia comes to ITV2 to replace the UK series after being cancelled due to COVID-19

Love Island fans across the nation were left utterly disappointed, after the hit show announced the 2020 summer series was cancelled due to COVID-19. However, the void has officially been filled! Love Island Australia will be coming onto our screens on Monday 15th June and we are absolutely BUZZING!

Fans (like us) will still be able to get their dose of the villa as ITV2 have decided to show the full 2018 series of Love Island Australia, hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott.

The official Love Island Facebook page announced the news in style after changing their profile picture to display their logo, upside down! Very clever.

The popular reality TV series took to social media once again, to follow up with another announcement stating:

“It’s the Love Island you love, just with a different accent! ❤️🌴🇦🇺 Love Island: Australia. Every night from Monday 15th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub.”

Whilst the UK series is usually our type on paper, we’re more than happy to watch a bunch of sizzling Aussie singles on our screens every night. The 2018 series also promises for lots of Island drama, as it certainly caused a stir when the show first aired.

Just like in the first series’ of Love Island UK that we all know and love (season 2 was ICONIC), the fights are more explosive, the romance is raunchier and there’s plenty more characters to get to know and love. We seriously can’t wait!.

Love Island Australia to replace UK series for 2020

Speaking on the cancellation of the UK series this year, ITV said: “We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.”

Host Laura Whitmore added: “Great news is that there have been more applications than any other series! Next year is going to be BIG. Stay safe.”

“Bring on the Bombshells, the Bromances and a little bit of Naughty Naughty!” Love Island Australia airs June 15th on ITV2.
