7 Animal Hybrids You Probably Have No Idea Exist

You’d be forgiven for thinking that hybrid animals are the stuff of legend, I mean, there’s no such thing as a wholphin or grolar bear right?

Animal hybrids are usually the reproductive result of intercourse between two similar animals, like lions and tigers = ligers. Lab hybrid animals also exist and scientists often manipulate genes to create new species with useful traits from both parents.

Are you ready to get up close and personal with some of the world’s weirdest animal hybrids?

Here’s our top 10:

1. Cama

The Cama is the result of a llama crossed with a one-humped camel. Created in a Camel Reproduction Centre in Dubai, the Cama was bred through artificial insemination to make something that could make more wool than a llama with a better temperament than a camel.

2. Grolar Bear

This magnificent animal is the result of a polar and a grizzly bear mating. Known as the grolar or pizzly, this animal hybrid is becoming more prevalent as melting ice caps have led to polar bears and grizzly’s crossing paths more often.

3. Wholphin

This is Kekaimalu, the only wolphin known to exist. Created from a dolphin and false killer whale.

4. Wolfdog

As its name suggests a wolfdog is a hybrid of a wolf and a dog. They’re notorious for being more dangerous and less predictable than domesticated dogs and are illegal in several states of the USA. That being said, there’s no denying that it’s a very appealing creature.

5. Jaglion

There are alot of big cat hybrids out there and the Jaglion is one of them. A cross between a lioness and a jaguar. Beautiful.

6. Narluga

Narlugas are a mix of narwhal and beluga whales and it’s thought that their existence has been brought about by climate change since they have been forced to co-exist in the same space. Like a narwhal, they have big heads but are missing the hallmark horn ofa beluga.

7. Geep

Also known as a shoat, the geep is half sheep and half goa and it’s adorable!

Mind blown!
